- Intro
Core (CORE) is a Layer 1 EVM blockchain and project that aims to develop infrastructure for the decentralized internet, also known as Web 3.0, centered around the Satoshi Plus consensus mechanism. This system merges the benefits of Proof of Work (PoW) and Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) to address the blockchain trilemma, ensuring decentralization, security, and scalability.
Since its launch on January 14, 2023, Core has processed over 5.7 million transactions and has more than 2 million unique addresses, supported by an active community visible through its 1.6 million Twitter followers and 210,000 Discord members.
The Satoshi Plus consensus mechanism utilizes Bitcoin's computational power to enhance decentralization while incorporating DPoS to improve scalability. Governance of the Core blockchain is transitioning towards decentralization, with plans to gradually shift control to CORE token holders, promoting community-led development. The transition from off-chain to on-chain governance is planned but not yet scheduled.
The CORE token is used for staking and paying transaction fees. Inspired by Bitcoin's limited supply and Ethereum's deflationary fee structure, Core aims to ensure the network's long-term sustainability and encourage participation. The distribution of CORE tokens covers various participants, including node operators, users, and contributors, and is set to continue over 81 years.
