Polygon (POL) is an Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution that aims to provide efficient and scalable infrastructure for Ethereum-based dApps. The network uses the Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are required to stake POL tokens to run nodes and secure the network. With the Polygon 2.0 upgrade, the network has transitioned towards a zkEVM validium network, which is designed to be compatible with a new supernet structure.
