Vine Coin (VINE) is a meme coin built on the Solana blockchain. It's directly connected to the history of the original Vine platform, a now-defunct social media app that popularised short-form, six-second videos. 

According to the founder, Vine Coin was created to “try and bring people together and reveal what makes us all so special. We impacted culture. Millions of videos were posted. I am launching this coin to commemorate the beauty of togetherness and creation”. 

Additionally, all proceeds from the future sale of dev tokens on Vine have been pledged to support the Vine Coin community and Elon Musk’s X.

Who Created Vine Coin?

Vine Coin was created by Rus Yusupov, the co-founder of the original Vine short-form video app. Yusupov's background in co-founding Vine gives the coin a unique connection to the history of short-form video. After Vine shut down in 2017, Yusupov co-founded HQ Trivia, a live trivia game app, which also eventually shut down in 2019. He then explored other projects, including a brief stint at a venture capital firm. 

In 2025, Rus Yusupov launched Vine Coin shortly after Elon Musk hinted at reviving the platform, sparking renewed interest in the defunct short-form video app. Musk's "We're looking into it" comment on X and a previous poll showing user support for Vine's return. In his announcement on X, Yusupov stated: “Remembering all the fun we had building Vine, Let's relive the magic and DO IT FOR THE #VINECOIN."
