- Intro
Vine Coin (VINE) is a meme-based cryptocurrency launched by Vine co-founder Rus Yusupov on January 23, 2025. The token serves as a nostalgic tribute to the original Vine app, the short-form video platform that helped shape early social media culture before being discontinued in 2017. Announcing its launch on X (formerly Twitter), Yusupov stated, "Remembering all the fun we had building Vine—Let’s relive the magic and DO IT FOR THE #VINECOIN."
While VINE operates as a meme coin, its value extends beyond pure speculation. The token is deeply integrated into the Vine Money ecosystem, introducing governance and financial incentives that position it beyond a typical meme token. Within the Vine Money DeFi ecosystem, users can earn VINE tokens by participating in various activities such as minting and maintaining vUSD debt positions, providing liquidity to the VINE/ROSE pool, and contributing vUSD to the Stability Pool. Token holders can lock VINE tokens for up to 52 weeks to maximize rewards and are entitled to a share of protocol-generated fees. Additionally, VINE holders have governance rights, allowing them to propose and vote on protocol upgrades and decisions.
The total supply of VINE tokens is capped at 100 million, distributed as follows:
55% allocated for reward emissions over a 36-month vesting period
15% for core contributors (3-month cliff, 24-month linear vesting)
10% for ecosystem incentives (24-month linear vesting)
8% to the treasury (same vesting schedule as ecosystem incentives)
5% for advisors (3-month cliff, 12-month linear vesting)
5% released via a whitelist sale at $0.10 per token, with 60% unlocked at TGE and the remainder vesting over six months
2% reserved for the liquidity pool, fully available at TGE
