Intro
Aptos (APT) is a layer-1 blockchain designed for greater scalability, safety, reliability, and upgradeability, and aims to overcome prevalent challenges associated with blockchain usage such as frequent outages, high costs, low throughput limits, and security vulnerabilities. Aptos is dedicated to building the fundamental technologies necessary to bring web3 to the masses. The Aptos blockchain natively integrates and utilizes the Move language for rapid and secure transaction execution. The Move prover augments this functionality by providing additional safeguards for contract invariants and behavior, enabling developers to enhance the security of their software against potential malicious actors. Aptos employs a flexible data model that facilitates hybrid custodial options and adaptable key management. When coupled with transaction transparency prior to signing and practical light client protocols, this fosters a safer and more trustworthy user experience. In pursuit of high throughput and low latency, Aptos adopts a pipelined and modular approach to transaction processing, maximizing resource utilization and hardware efficiency while enabling highly parallel execution. Aptos' facilitates internal sharding of validators and homogeneous state sharding, paving the way for horizontal throughput scalability without adding undue complexity for node operators. Unlike conventional parallel execution engines that compromise transaction atomicity by necessitating upfront knowledge of data to be read and written, Aptos does not impose such constraints on developers, and efficiently supports atomicity even with intricately structured transactions. Aptos' modular architecture design prioritizes client flexibility and facilitates seamless upgrades. To expedite the deployment of new technological advancements and support emerging web3 use cases, the blockchain incorporates embedded on-chain change management protocols.
